Week 2 is in the books and we're getting ready for week 3. That means it’s time to take a look at some guys to play and some to sit. These are a few players that should excel and others to keep on the bench for week 3.
Start em!
QB J.T. O'Sullivan VS Lions
- The 49ers are starting to get Mike Martz' offense. This week the
Detroit Lions come to town. Look for the 49er passing game to put up
nice numbers this week. Detroit has given up the 5th most fantasy
points to quarterbacks. They have given up 480 yards and 4 passing
touchdowns in 2 games. I look for J.T. to have 275 yards and a couple
of touchdowns.
QB Matt Cassel VS Miami
- The Miami secondary has not looked very good so far. They have given
up 545 yards and 5 passing touchdowns in the 1st 2 weeks. They're given
up a lot of long passes and Cassel should have at least 1 long pass to
Randy Moss for a touchdown. The Dolphins are the 4th worst team in
fantasy for points given up to quarterbacks. I look for Cassel to have
a pretty good day with a couple of touchdowns.
RB Michael Turner VS Chiefs
- In this game, much like the Detroit game in week 1, the Falcons will
be able to run the ball, even though they have a rookie quarterback.
That won't happen when they play a team with a quality defense, but
this week they play the Chiefs. They've given up 426 yards rushing, a
5.7 average, and 3 rushing touchdowns. Look for Turner to have over 125
yards and a touchdown.
RB Julius Jones VS Rams
- The Rams can't stop anyone and Morris is still out. Look for the
Seahawks to run the ball on the Rams. They have to run the ball because
they have no receivers. Only Houston and Detroit have given up more
fantasy points to running backs than the Rams. Look for Jones to have a
big day this week.
WR Isaac Bruce/Bryant Johnson VS Lions
- Detroit has given up 393 yards and 4 touchdowns to wide receivers in
only 2 games. Johnson and Bruce are both healthy and J.T. is starting
to understand the offense. I look for these 2 to have 200 yards and a
couple of touchdowns between them.
WR Steve Smith @ Vikings
- Steve Smith is back from suspension and ready to go. The team will
want to get him involved in his 1st game back and Smith is going to be
jacked-up to play well. Look for the Panthers to pass a lot in this
game and for Smith to have a big game against the vulnerable Vikings
pass defense.
Sit Em!
QB Derek Anderson @ Ravens
- The Browns offense, and Anderson in particular, has not looked very
good so far this season. The Ravens have given up less than 100 yards
passing in 2 games. I don't think Cleveland will be able to get
anything going against that tough Baltimore defense. I look for
Anderson to have another rough game.
QB David Gerrard @ Colts
- The Colts defense is easy to run against, but their pass defense has
looked good. The Jags will try to run the ball on Indy, but they have
too many injured lineman and will only be mildly successful. If they
can't run the ball well, the Colts will be able to unleash the pass
rush. I look for Gerrard to struggle again this week.
RB Jamal Lewis @ Ravens
- The Ravens are number 1 against the run and they've only given up 50
yards to running backs this year. The Cleveland offense has been out of
sync. Cleveland will try to run and they'll get a few yards, but I look
for the Baltimore defense to shut down the Cleveland offense as a
whole. Look for Lewis to struggle in this game.
RB Jonathan Stewart @ Vikings
- The Vikings are very good against the run. They've only given up 129
yards in 2 games. Since there won't be many holes, and Stewart and
Williams are splitting carries, neither one of them will have a very
good game. I look for the Panthers to pass a lot in this game.
WR Santana Moss VS Cardinals
- The Redskins were inconsistent in the preseason and they've been up
and down in the regular season. They'll be down this week. The
Cardinals defense has looked like they're the real deal so far this
year and they've only given up 186 yards and no touchdowns to wide
receivers. I look for the Redskins passing game to struggle in this
game.
WR Braylon Edwards @ Ravens
– The Ravens have only given up 4 catches and 66 yards to wide
receivers this season. I think the Ravens will try and take Edwards out
of the game. Edwards also has a shoulder problem. The Cleveland offense
has not been in-sync this year and I don't think they get it fixed this
week. Look for Edwards to have a slow game.
Let me know what you think!
